Where there is genuine clear space, a tree can often be felled whole rather than dismantled piece by piece — and that difference alone can halve the time on site and take a substantial amount off the price.
The tree stock reflects fast growth on good ground: gums, wattles, cypress, poplars and a lot of self-seeded growth along back boundaries and gully edges. These get big quickly, and they get structurally untidy just as quickly.

Wattle is the species we are called to most in Massey, and it is worth understanding why. It grows fast, gets tall, and produces weak, brittle wood with poor branch attachments. Large limbs commonly fail at the union without much warning, particularly when the tree is wet and loaded by wind.
That failure pattern makes mature wattle a poor candidate for repeated pruning near anything that matters. You can reduce it, and it will regrow quickly with even weaker attachments at the cut points. Where a large wattle stands over a driveway, a deck or a play area, removal is usually the honest recommendation rather than a maintenance cycle that never ends.

Gully edges and thirty years of self-seeding
A great many Massey properties back onto a gully running down toward the upper harbour, and those back boundaries accumulate vegetation nobody planted. Privet, wattle, tree lucerne, blackberry and assorted self-seeded exotics build up over decades until the last few metres of the section are simply impassable.
Handled tree by tree this is expensive and never finishes. Handled as a single clearing project it is far cheaper per square metre, and you get a defined result rather than an ongoing battle. We agree the finished line in advance — cleared to the fence, cleared to a mowable edge, or cleared and replanted with something that will not do it again.
Two cautions. Gully-edge vegetation is sometimes doing erosion-control work on a slope, and stripping it entirely can create a bank problem worse than the overgrowth. And gullies feeding a watercourse may carry a riparian or ecological overlay that restricts clearing. We check both before quoting, and where the sensible answer is to clear selectively rather than completely, that is what we will recommend.
