East Auckland
Big trees, small sections, close neighbours
Botany is newer than most of east Auckland, and its sections are correspondingly smaller. Houses sit close to boundaries, gardens are compact, and the trees planted when the subdivisions went in have grown into spaces that were never sized for them.
That makes access the defining factor. Very few Botany jobs allow a chipper or truck anywhere near the tree, so material is cut small, carried out through a side gate or garage and loaded at the kerb. It is precise work rather than heavy work, and the finish matters as much as the cut.
Local conditions
Privacy planting that worked too well
Almost every Botany removal happens within a few metres of somebody else's property, and the standard job is a fence-line tree. Planted for privacy when the subdivision was new, it now overhangs two roofs, drops into two sets of gutters and blocks light on both sides at once.
We plan the drop zone to keep everything inside your boundary. Where that is genuinely not possible, we talk to the neighbour before the day rather than on the morning — which is the difference between a job that runs to time and one that stops halfway through while somebody knocks on a door.
Botany access notes
- Restricted access is the norm — material is hand-carried out to a kerbside truck.
- Fence-line and privacy trees are the most common Botany removal by a wide margin.
- Neighbour coordination handled in advance where a drop zone crosses a boundary.
- Compact gardens mean the finish and the clean-up matter as much as the removal.
In more detail
Shared driveways, and the thing that actually goes wrong
A large share of Botany and Botany Downs housing sits on shared-access lots — two, four or six households down a single right-of-way. That arrangement is fine day to day and becomes a problem the moment a truck and a chipper need to occupy it for six hours.
The complication is never the tree work. It is that somebody who did not book the job cannot get their car out at nine in the morning, and by the time that is discovered the crew is set up and the chipper is running. It is the single most common reason a job on a shared drive goes badly, and it is entirely preventable.
So we ask up front who else relies on that access, and we give the other households notice of the date and the hours before we arrive. Where a drive genuinely cannot be blocked, we plan a kerbside set-up further out and accept the longer carry instead. Tell us the access arrangement when you first get in touch and it stops being an issue at all.

Questions
Botany tree questions
Can you remove a tree if there is no room to drop anything?
Yes — that is normal in Botany. The tree is dismantled from the top in pieces small enough to control by hand or on a short rope, and material is carried out rather than dropped. It is slower than an open site but it is entirely standard work.
Do you need access through my neighbour's property?
Usually not. We plan to work entirely within your boundary wherever possible. If the only safe way to do the job involves being over the fence, we will tell you at quoting stage so permission can be arranged properly in advance rather than on the morning.
Will your machinery damage my lawn?
A stump grinder leaves tracks on soft ground, so we lay boards over lawns where practical and rake and level afterwards. On very small or newly established lawns, tell us and we will plan the route to avoid the worst of it.
